Tata Memorial Centre In Odisha: CM Naveen Patnaik Requested PM
Odisha Chief minister Naveen Patnaik requested the Centre to set up a hub of the Tata Memorial Centre at Bhubaneswar to provide affordable care to the cancer patients.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naveen said the Centre would be of invaluable service to the poor patients of Odisha and neighboring states as well as. He also assured to provide all necessary support from the state government for the purpose.
Stating that the Centre has been setting up its hubs at different locations—Sangrur in Punjab, Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister emphasized the need for an advanced cancer hospital and research centre in Odisha to provide affordable care to the cancer patients.
“Odisha has been receiving a good number of patients requiring various types of medical interventions from our neighboring states. Apart from a branch of AIIMS and hospitals of the state government, we now have good participation of private hospitals in and around Bhubaneswar,” Naveen noted in the letter.
Department of Atomic Energy gives grant in aid and manages the Tata Memorial Centre.
